Tenant Information
RUDY is a scratch kitchen, “no nonsense” fast casual restaurant specializing in smashed cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, fries and milkshakes. All made fresh to order.
The name RUDY is a playful term Luke and Chris (the owners) used as kids to call someone who was acting out of line. “That guy is a Rudy.” And if they were really obnoxious they called them a Rude Dude (which is what the double cheeseburger is named after).
The fried chicken sandwich is called The Valentino, named after the old Italian actor Rudy Valentino, who was a movie star before the talkies (the original location is in Little Italy).
But RUDY is known foremost for cheeseburgers.
“Rudy makes the Platonic ideal of the smashed-and-griddled style of hamburger. It’s everything you want it to be: the patties are immensely juicy and tender, with a picture-perfect mahogany-brown crust and a face punch of amazing beefy flavour. The cheese? Gooey American, of course. And the bun is soft, squishy and slightly sweet; it’s perfect, just like every element of this outstanding burger.” torontolife.com
