Peter has been in the real estate business for 29 years and has completed transactions in the office, retail, industrial and residential sectors of the business. His career is rooted in the areas of financial analytics, valuation, debt and capital markets and he has progressed his experience to include leasing, property sales and development, including significant experience with large scale complex transactions. During his career he has completed over $1.2B in sale-leaseback transactions, $300M in property financings and $170M in property sales. His career to date has included stints at large and small property developers, corporate real estate users and a significant Canadian retailer.
Peter started his real estate career at Marathon Realty, which was the commercial real estate arm of Canadian Pacific prior to being sold to Oxford Properties in 1996. Subsequent to that he was one of a core leadership team at Nexacor Realty that led the $866 million monetization of 13 office buildings for Bell Canada. This landmark transaction was among the first sale-leasebacks of significant corporate real estate holdings in Canada at the time. After several years in development finance and analytics with First Gulf Developments, Peter led a number of significant transactions at Canadian Tire, including the $150 million sale of a former warehouse in North York, a $229 million sale-leaseback of two distribution centres and a $174 million sale-leaseback of 11 stores. As a consultant and development adviser with Sweeny &Co he led the project management, analysis and entitlement process for several development projects both in multi-res / condo and office, totaling over 1.2M sf of GFA.
Peter has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Toronto and an MBA in Finance from McMaster University.
